Our Initiatives: Empowering Women with Disabilities Globally

At The Global Forum on the Leadership of Women with Disabilities, we are committed to creating a world where women with disabilities are empowered to lead and succeed. Our initiatives are focused on breaking down barriers, advocating for equality, and providing essential resources that support the growth and development of women with disabilities around the globe.

Our Key Initiatives

1. Leadership Development for Women with Disabilities

Our Leadership Development Program is designed to foster leadership skills in women with disabilities, providing them with the knowledge, confidence, and support needed to take on key roles in their communities, workplaces, and beyond. We believe that strong leadership begins with education and mentorship, which is why our program offers comprehensive training, one-on-one coaching, and workshops focused on self-empowerment, public speaking, and strategic decision-making. By helping women develop their leadership potential, we aim to create a global network of disability advocates who will champion inclusivity, equality, and opportunity for all. Our goal is to ensure that women with disabilities are not only seen but heard as leaders in social, political, and professional spheres.

2. Advocating for Inclusive Policies

We are committed to advocating for inclusive policies that promote equality and fairness for women with disabilities across all sectors of society. This initiative involves collaborating with governments, NGOs, and community organizations to influence laws and regulations that impact accessibility, healthcare, education, and employment. Our advocacy efforts aim to break down systemic barriers that prevent women with disabilities from fully participating in society. Through research, policy recommendations, and public campaigns, we push for legislation that ensures equal access to services and protects the rights of women with disabilities. Our long-term vision is to create societies where disability inclusion is not an afterthought but a priority in policy-making.

3. Global Network of Women Leaders

Our Global Network of Women Leaders with Disabilities is a powerful initiative that connects women with disabilities from all over the world. This network serves as a platform for sharing resources, best practices, and personal experiences, helping to create a community of empowered women who support and uplift one another. We facilitate opportunities for collaboration, leadership exchange programs, and international advocacy campaigns that highlight the voices of women with disabilities on global platforms. By fostering these connections, we aim to create a ripple effect of change, where women with disabilities inspire and mentor the next generation of leaders, ensuring that their voices shape the future.

4. Disability Job Center (DJC)

The Disability Job Center (DJC) is a cornerstone of our commitment to promoting economic empowerment for women with disabilities. We understand that financial independence is critical to living a fulfilling and dignified life, which is why the DJC is focused on connecting women with disabilities to inclusive employment opportunities. Through partnerships with diverse, disability-friendly employers, we offer career counseling, resume building, job placement services, and professional development workshops. Our services are designed to equip women with the skills and confidence to excel in competitive job markets. By advocating for workplace accommodations and inclusive hiring practices, we help ensure that women with disabilities can thrive in meaningful careers that offer stability and growth.

5. Disability-Inclusive Disaster Preparedness

Sports can be a powerful tool for social inclusion, physical health, and personal empowerment. Our Sports for Inclusion initiative creates opportunities for women with disabilities to engage in adaptive sports, promoting both physical well-being and social integration. We believe that participation in sports can help women with disabilities break down barriers, challenge societal perceptions, and build lasting confidence. From wheelchair basketball to adaptive swimming and inclusive yoga, we offer a range of sports programs designed to accommodate all abilities. Our goal is not only to promote fitness but also to foster friendships, build community bonds, and create spaces where women feel empowered to embrace their strengths and achievements, both on and off the field.

6. Inclusive Sports for Empowerment

Disasters can disproportionately impact women with disabilities, and we are dedicated to ensuring they are not left behind in crisis situations. Our Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) initiative works to create accessible disaster preparedness plans that consider the specific needs of women with disabilities. We collaborate with local governments, humanitarian organizations, and community leaders to develop emergency protocols that are inclusive and accessible. This includes advocating for wheelchair-accessible evacuation routes, disaster shelters equipped with assistive devices, and ensuring emergency communication is accessible to all. We also provide training to women with disabilities, empowering them to respond to disasters with knowledge and confidence, making sure they are equipped to protect themselves and others during crises.
